* Author T.B. Smith Signs Books for a Good Cause *

(ASHLAND, Ore.) The public is invited to join author T.B. Smith at a book signing fundraiser for the Jackson County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), at Tease restaurant, 303 East Main (at 2nd Street), on Wednesday, June 22, starting at 8:00 p.m.

Smith will be signing copies of his new novel, The Sticking Place (Hellgate Press, paperback, $19.95), a “gritty police procedural” with a protagonist that the LA Times says is “slowly coming to terms with the fact that law enforcement is a blunt instrument not altogether suited to fixing society’s deeper problems—a lesson brought home by a down-and-out UCLA literature professor who looks up from the gutter and quotes ‘King Lear.’”

The book signing will be preceded by dramatic readings from Smith’s book by local actors Victoria Simone Stewart and Joe Caron.

Stewart has been performing at community theaters in Jackson County since 1992 and is currently cast in a principal role in “Mitzvah,” an independent film being shot on location in Medford.

Caron’s local acting credits include a run as hard-boiled detective Dick Sixkiller in “Of All the Gin Joints,” produced by Ashland Contemporary Theatre in 2010, and as Norbert in Oregon Stage Works’ production of “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” in 2008.

Admission is a suggested donation of $3.00, with proceeds benefitting the Jackson County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). SART provides free, compassionate care to victims of sexual assault as well as expert forensic evidence collection to help bring offenders to justice. They also work with local schools and the community to help prevent sexual violence. For more information about the Jackson County SART and its services, go to www.jacksoncountysart.org.

For more information about the event, call Tease at 541-488-1458 or visit teaseashland.com.

The Sticking Place is published by Hellgate Press (www.hellgatepress.com), an Ashland, Ore.-based publisher of fiction and non-fiction books, and is available wherever books are sold.
